On November 5 (local time), Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held talks with Mr. Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Mr. Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council of the European Union (EU), and Mr. Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, President of the European Commission, respectively.
In the afternoon, after being welcomed by Mr. Choummaly Sayasone, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, at the National Convention Centre, Prime Minister Noda attended the opening ceremony.
Then, after holding talks with Mr. Benigno S. Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, Prime Minister Noda attended Session 1 of the ASEM9.
In the evening, Prime Minister Noda attended a banquet hosted by Mr. Choummaly Sayasone, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and Mrs. Sayasone.
