Second Day of the Prime Minister's Visit to Southeast Asia

On January 17 (local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is visiting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries in order to ensure the peace and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region, visited the Kingdom of Thailand.
After meeting with Japanese nationals living in Thailand at a hotel in Bangkok, the Prime Minister observed the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology. Then, Prime Minister Abe had an audience with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who is presently an inpatient at a hospital in the city.
Later, after attending the welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Abe held talks with Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, held a joint press conference and exchanged gifts.
In the evening, Prime Minister Abe attended the banquet hosted by Prime Minister Yingluck.
