First Day of the Prime Minister's Visit to Southeast Asia

On January 16 (local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Viet Nam.
After attending the welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Abe held talks with Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Then, after holding talks with Dr. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Prime Minister Abe paid a courtesy call on Mr. Truong Tan Sang, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Later, Prime Minister Abe joined Mrs. Abe, receiving a courtesy call by people related to an elementary school in Viet Nam, and delivered an address.
In the evening, Prime Minister Abe attended the banquet hosted by Prime Minister Dung and his wife Mrs. Tran Thanh Kiem.
