On June 27th, commencing at 2:30 p.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from a delegation of the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce. An overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed the delegation’s visit to Japan and stated that the energy field is an integral pillar of Japan-U.S. cooperation. He then expressed his hopes that this visit would be a meaningful opportunity to enhance cooperation in the field.
  2. Moreover, Prime Minister Kishida remarked that Japan and the U.S. have launched the Economic “2+2” and have been actively cooperating in the IPEF. He then stressed the importance of further deepening Japan and the U.S.’ multilayered bilateral relationship, including in the energy sector. In response, the participating delegation members showed agreement.
