Press Office, Prime Minister's Office
Office of Global Communications, Prime Minister's Office

As in the past, attendance by members of the foreign press (pen reporters) at the regularly scheduled press conferences given by the Chief Cabinet Secretary (in Japanese) will continue to be subject to the procedures outlined below. In cases where not all journalists can be seated for reasons of space limitations, attendance will be limited to pool reporting.

  1. For security reasons, journalists wishing to attend the regularly scheduled press conferences at the Prime Minister's Office must initially submit a copy of the "Foreign Journalist's Application for Registration at Press Conferences at the Prime Minister's Office" (外国記者官邸会見取材登録申請書) form via the Foreign Press in Japan (FPIJ). Only holders of Foreign Press IDs issued by the Foreign Ministry are eligible to apply.
  2. The applicant will then receive from the Foreign Press in Japan (FPIJ) a copy of the "Foreign Journalist's Notification of Attendance at Press Conferences at the Prime Minister's Office." (外国記者官邸会見取材登録申請書)
  3. When you plan to attend a press conference, it is necessary to register in advance. Please contact to the Office of Global Communications for details (03-3581-0101).
  4. Representatives of the Observer of Cabinet Press Club may continue to attend without advance registration.
