Prompt communication of ideas from the
Government through the press, TV and other media is very important
for gaining the understanding of the people on Government policies
and measures. In that sense, the Briefing Room plays the important
role of a place to connect the Kantei to the public.
The Briefing Room of the Kantei shares the first floor with
the branch office of the Cabinet Public Relations Office, and the
Kantei Photography Office.
The Briefing Room is where the press conferences of the Prime Minister
and the daily press conferences of the Chief Cabinet Secretary are
held.
Note that the Briefing Room is equipped with three colors of back
curtain. For the Prime Minister's press conferences it is either deep
blue or wine red, while for the press conferences of the Chief Cabinet
Secretary it is usually light blue. Watch carefully the press conferences
on the TV, and you will notice the varying colors of the back curtain.
