The Ministerial Reception Room is the
gathering place for ministers before they enter Cabinet Meetings.
Cabinet Meetings are held at the Kantei and also at the Diet
Building at times when the Diet is in session, and in both locations
there is a Ministerial Reception Room.
It is in these rooms that ministers converse prior to entering Cabinet
Meetings. The television pictures that are often seen of the Prime
Minister sitting with other ministers in a U-shaped formation, are
taken in the reception room, prior to the start of a Cabinet Meeting.
The Ministerial Reception Room at the Kantei is carpeted in
red with a pattern of lines of spreading waves. Three walls of the
room are finished in the layered wood of the Japanese cypress and
cedar, which gives the room a warm and gentle feel.
Through this room is the Cabinet Room, where Cabinet decisions are
made. |
