On September 20 (local time), Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda arrived in New York, the United States, to attend the 66th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
On the following day, September 21 (local time), Prime Minister Noda held talks separately with Mr. Barack Obama, President of the United States, Mr. Steven Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, and Mr. Lee Myung-bak, President of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Prime Minister Noda then held talks with Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, after which the Prime Minister met with Japanese staff working at UN agencies.
