Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the Arab Republic of Egypt, the last country on the tour of the Middle East.

After being welcomed at Cairo International Airport, Prime Minister Abe held talks with Mr. Mohammad Hosny Mubarak, the President of Egypt, at one of the Presidential Palaces.

At the meeting, the two leaders exchanged opinions on various Middle East issues, including peace in the Middle East, reconstruction assistance in Iraq and Iran's nuclear issue, as well as other issues such as the United Nations (UN) reform.

Following the press conference, Prime Minister Abe held talks with Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Mohammed Nazif, the Prime Minister of Egypt. Having completed his full itinerary, Prime Minister Abe left for Japan, arriving at Haneda Airport on the evening of May 3.
