Minister in charge of Comprehensive Policy Coordination for Revival from the Nuclear Accident at Fukushima

Takumi Nemoto is Minister for Reconstruction and Minister in charge of Comprehensive Policy Coordination for Revival from the Nuclear Accident at Fukushima. He was born in Fukushima Prefecture in 1951, and joined the Ministry of Construction after graduating from the Faculty of Economics, University of Tokyo, in 1974. Since being elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1993, he has occupied a number of posts as follows:

 

- Parliamentary Vice-Minister, Ministry of Welfare, July 1998 - October 1999
- Senior Vice Minister, Cabinet Office, October 2002 - September 2003
- Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, October 2002 - September 2003
- Chairman, Standing Committee on Economy, Trade and Industry, House of Representatives, November 2003 - October 2004
- Chairman, Public Relations Headquarters, Liberal Democratic Party, October 2004 - November 2005
- Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in charge of economic and financial issues, September 2006 - August 2007
- President, Tohoku Shishinokai (group of Tohoku men of vision), May 2010 - present

 

He likes reading, listening to music, swimming, performing Aikido and hiking in the mountains. His political belief is 'Change Japan through policy-oriented politics', while his personal mottos are 'Accept things that happen' and 'Strong winds test the sturdiness of grass'.
