On July 9 (local time), during his visit to Australia, Prime Minster Shinzo Abe visited the Pilbara region in Western Australia and toured the West Angelas iron ore mine, together with the Hon. Tony Abbott, Prime Minister of Australia. Afterwards, Prime Minister Abe moved to Perth, where he received a courtesy call from the Hon. Colin Barnett MLA , Premier of Western Australia. Following this, the Prime Minister attended the signing ceremony of the document for the establishment of the Japan-Australia Academic Exchange Fund. In the evening Prime Minister Abe attended a welcome banquet jointly hosted by Prime Minister Abbott and Premier Barnett.
