On April 30 (local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is visiting the Russian Federation, visited the Japanese Garden at the Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow and planted a cherry blossom tree.
The Prime Minister then held talks with Mr. Sergey Evgenievich Naryshkin, Chair of the State Duma (lower house) of Russia, at the State Duma.
Following this, the Prime Minister attended the Japan-Russia Forum held at a hotel in Moscow, where he delivered a speech on economic cooperation aimed at strengthening Japan-Russia relations.
Later, the Prime Minister met with Ms. Nina Polyanskaya, a displaced Japanese war orphan, at the Japanese Embassy in Russia.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister attended the reception of the "Japanese Food Promotion" event held at the Japanese Embassy and delivered a speech on Japanese food culture.
