On April 11, 2024 (local time), Prime Minister Kishida, who is visiting Washington, D.C. in the United States, met with the Honorable Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Congressional House and Senate Leadership (Speaker Mike Johnson of the U.S. House of Representatives, Senate Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell, and House Minority Leader Representative Hakeem Jeffries) respectively.
Next, the Prime Minister delivered an address entitled “For the Future: Our Global Partnership” at a Joint Meeting of the United States Congress, and then attended the State Luncheon hosted by Ms. Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States of America and Mr. Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State.
The Prime Minister subsequently held a Japan-U.S.-Philippines Summit meeting with the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., President of the United States of America and H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, before departing Washington, D.C. and arriving in North Carolina.
Finally, the Prime Minister held a press conference on his visit to the United States.
