Meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and the U.S. Congressional House and Senate Leadership (Summary)

On April 11th, commencing at 10:05 a.m. (local time, 11:05 p.m. on April 11th, Japan time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, during his official visit to Washington D.C., met with the U.S. Congressional House and Senate Leadership. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. At the outset, Speaker Johnson stated that it was an honor to invite Prime Minister Kishida for the address at a Joint Meeting of the U.S. Congress, and the members present reiterated their strong support for the solid U.S.-Japan relationship.

2. In response, Prime Minister Kishida responded that he was honored and grateful to have the opportunity to make an address at the Congress, which has a long history and tradition, and said that he appreciated and was heartened by the bi-partisan support for enduing Japan-U.S. relationship.

3. Prime Minister Kishida and the U.S. Congressional House and Senate Leadership also discussed other agendas, including legislative exchanges between Japan and the U.S.
