On April 11th, commencing at 0:10 p.m. (local time, 1:10 a.m. on April 12th, Japan time) for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, during his official visit to Washington D.C., attended a reception hosted by the Honorable Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. The overview of the reception is as follows.

1. At the outset, Speaker Johnson gave his welcoming remarks, stating that he is thankful for Prime Minister Kishida’s speech and that the speech was done at a crucial moment while also touching upon the relationship between Japan and Louisiana.

2. Prime Minister Kishida stated that further expanding and deepening the Japan-U.S. alliance, which is the cornerstone of Japan’s foreign policy, is a top priority of the Kishida administration’s foreign policy, and that, as he stated in his speech, the two countries are now global partners, and will remain so in the future.

3. Prime Minister Kishida exchanged views with other participants on ways to further expand and deepen the Japan-U.S. relationship.
