Visit to the United States: Second Day

On September 20, 2023 (local time), Prime Minister Kishida, who is visiting New York in the United States, delivered a speech at the Global Goalkeepers Award 2023 ceremony,  before holding a Japan-Iran summit meeting with H.E. Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim RAISI, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Prime Minister then attended the Security Council High Level Open Debate on “Upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter through effective multilateralism: maintenance of peace and security of Ukraine”.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister held a working lunch with H.E. Mr. Ukhnaa KHURELSUKH, President of Mongolia, before holding a press conference regarding his attendance at the Seventy-Eighth Session of the United Nations General Assembly and other matters. Afterwards, the Prime Minister attended the Atlantic Council’s Global Citizenship Awards annual gala.
