In order to realize even more comprehensible administrative
systems, it is necessary to carry out administrative
duties in a simplified and efficient manner and enhance
transparency of organizations and management. The
Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts
and Telecommunications was established under these
principles from the merging of the parent organizations:
the Management and Coordination Agency; the Ministry
of Home Affairs; and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications,
as a part of the Central Government Reform in January
2001.
The Ministry is responsible for the administrative
functions that are broadly related with the basis
for the life of the people. It manages and controls
the basic systems supporting the mechanisms of the
nation and the economic and social activities of the
people. These basic systems include administrative
organizations, public service servant systems, local
administration, finance and tax, elections, fire/disaster
prevention, info-communications, postal services and
compilation of statistics.
