On Friday, April 20, Mr. Katsuya Okada, Deputy Prime Minister of Japan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, for approximately 20 minutes from 5:40 p.m. An overview of the meeting is as follows (attending on the Viet Nam side were Mr. Vu Duc Dam, Chief Cabinet Secretary, and Mr. Nguyen Minh Quang, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, among others):
- Deputy Prime Minister Okada welcomed Prime Minister Dung's visit to Japan and expressed his pleasure at meeting the Prime Minister for the first time since the Deputy Prime Minister's visit to Hanoi in July 2010.
In response, Prime Minister Dung congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Okada for taking up the important position of Deputy Prime Minister and welcomed the daily progress of friendly and cooperative relations between Japan and Viet Nam. Prime Minister Dung also requested Deputy Prime Minister Okada to support the further progress of Japan-Viet Nam relations.
- Subsequently, the parties exchanged opinions on issues such as aging society and the social insurance system, which are common issues of the two countries.
