On Saturday, October 29, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda received a courtesy call from Mr. S. M. Krishna, External Affairs Minister of India, who was visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. Prime Minister Noda expressed gratitude for India's warm support following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Minister Krishna stated that both the upper and lower houses of the Indian Parliament had adopted a resolution expressing solidarity with Japan in the wake of the earthquake, that India has always respected Japan, and that Japan's efforts to rebuild itself from disaster would serve as a model for other countries.
   
   
2. Prime Minister Noda said that he regards mutual visits of Prime Ministers between Japan and India as being important and that he would like to arrange his visit to India at mutual convenient date this year. Minister Krishna responded that he is looking forward to the Prime Minister's visit to India.
   
   
3. Minister Krishna said that concerning its relationship with Japan, India attaches importance to economic cooperation, as exemplified by the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) project and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, as well as cooperation on security. Minister Krishna also mentioned the recent inauguration of the Bangalore Metro, which was constructed using Japan's official development assistance (ODA) in Bangalore, State of Karnataka, where Minister Krishna was once the State's Chief Minister, and thanked Japan for its assistance.
