The Prime Minister Visits Iwate Prefecture

Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda visited Iwate Prefecture to gauge the extent of the damage from the Great East Japan Earthquake.
First, the Prime Minister visited Iwate Prefectural Office. The Prime Minister exchanged views with the Governor of Iwate Prefecture and received a letter of request.
Then, the Prime Minister headed to Miyako City, where he observed the shopping district in Suehiro-cho and sampled the locally-brewed sake.
The Prime Minister then visited Taro District, Miyako City. After observing the coastal levee while receiving an explanation, the Prime Minister headed to Fujiwara Quay in Miyako City and observed the shredding and sorting facility.
Later, the Prime Minister headed to Yamada Town, received an explanation at a fisheries company, and extended words of encouragement to the employees.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister visited temporary housing in Orikasa District, Yamada Town, observed the facility and exchanged opinions with the residents. He then received a letter of request from the Mayor of Yamada Town.
