Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the seventh meeting of the Headquarters for Administrative Reform Implementation at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on issues such as the roadmap for the sales of national assets and assets held by independent administrative agencies, the report on the scheme for the Japan Housing Finance Agency, and the review of the "bureaucratic culture."

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "Administrative reform is an issue addressed enthusiastically by the DPJ-led government.
Since the inauguration of the current Cabinet, we have been engaged in many issues including the proposal-based policy review, reduction of housing complexes, reduction of remuneration, curbing of recruitment, reforms of independent administrative agencies and the special account system, the disclosure process of the review of administrative programs, and many others in a period of less than one year. I believe that we have been achieving major outcomes.
However, in order to create an even better administrative structure, and in consideration of asking people to accept further burden according to the comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems, we must not halt here but carry forward the administrative reform even further.
It is therefore important to promptly put possible measures into practice. As a part of such movement, I would like to decide the roadmap for the sales of national assets and assets held by independent administrative agencies in today's meeting.
I would like to ask each Cabinet member to actively work on various issues and exert leadership on administrative reform."
