Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the 57th meeting of the Strategic Headquarters for the Promotion of an Advanced Information and Telecommunications Network Society (IT Strategic Headquarters) at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the formulation of the open data strategy for electronic administration, the action plan for disaster management IT lifelines, and other matters.

At the closing of the meeting, the Prime Minister said, "As for the action plan for disaster management IT lifelines, it is important to promptly start implementing what can be done immediately, and to put effort into establishing the world's most advanced disaster management IT lifeline. I would like for the relevant ministers to understand the state of the progress and ensure secure implementation thereof.
The open data strategy for electronic administration is also an essential issue from perspectives such as improvement of the transparency and credibility of administration, and revitalization of economy through the creation of a new market. Based on this strategy, I would like the public data to be disclosed proactively and specific measures to promote the utilization of such data to be considered in the future. I would like to ask the relevant ministers to actively cooperate in disclosing the data over which they have administrative jurisdiction.
The achievements of IT strategy will be included in the Strategy for the Rebirth of Japan. At the same time, I ask the relevant ministers once again to exert their leadership and make further effort to make it possible for Japan to lead the world with IT."
