Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda attended the meeting of the Reconstruction Promotion Committee at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "The Government held the meeting of the Reconstruction Promotion Council on May 18. The Government's work plan and roadmap were reviewed, and it was decided among the Cabinet members to speed up the initiatives for reconstruction.
In addition, an approach for the simplification of procedures was taken on May 25, and the notification was made on the amount of the second round of reconstruction grant allocations.
The Government would like to continuously take in earnest the voices from the affected areas and the opinions of the committee members, to overcome each problem toward the reconstruction.
It is scheduled that the Reconstruction Promotion Committee will compile a mid-term report by around September. I would like to ask Dr. Makoto Iokibe, chairman of the committee, and other members to continue with lively discussions."
