Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters
Tuesday, May 29, 2012
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held a meeting of the Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters at the Prime Minister's Office.
During the meeting, discussions took place on the formulation of the Intellectual Property Strategic Program 2012.
Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "We have decided the Intellectual Property Strategic Program 2012 today, with the major pillars of intellectual property innovation and contents. I expect the Japan Patent Office and the Agency for Cultural Affairs to take the lead, ahead of other ministries, in reviewing and revising the intellectual property system, so that the large as well as mid- and small-sized enterprises in Japan can play an active role on a global basis by utilizing intellectual properties and international standards.
Contents are the hidden treasure of Japan. It is possible to revitalize regions by increasing the brand value of Japan and the number of visitors from abroad.
I would like to ask the Cabinet Office and related ministries to enthusiastically work for Japan to regain its vitality through the utilization of intellectual properties.
