The Prime Minister Attends the India-Japan Business Summit
Thursday, May 24, 2012
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda attended the India-Japan Business Summit held in Tokyo.
Prime Minister Noda said in his address, "Japan and India share universal values such as democracy. Strengthening the cooperation between both countries is supported by the members of all parties in both Japan and India. The two countries established the Strategic and Global Partnership and are strengthening cooperation in a broad range of fields including security and economy.
While India has an abundant labor pool and sustained high rates of economic growth, Japan has the technology and experience to be able to contribute to the sustainable development of India. This mutually-complementary economic relation between Japan and India has great potential.
I visited India last December, and was able to have a very meaningful exchange of views with Prime Minister Singh on the Japan-India bilateral relationship and the strengthening of cooperation in a broad range of fields including regional and global issues, so as to further develop the potential of such relation between the two countries. The First India-Japan Ministerial-Level Economic Dialogue was held in India in April, attended by seven ministerial-level officials from Japan, where active exchange of opinions took place. Specific cooperation projects are also making progress. I also understand that the coordination toward the inauguration of the joint program with India is in the final stage."
