Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held a joint meeting of the Headquarters for Administrative Reform Implementation and the Headquarters to Promote Civil Service Reform at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on legislation related to recruitment of national civil servants, integration of pension systems, comprehensive and intensive implementation of administrative reform, and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "Administrative reform is a key issue that must be advanced comprehensively together with the comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems.
The draft legislation for implementing administrative reform was compiled by the ruling parties on March 13. This legislation is intended to give legal status to the Headquarters for Administrative Reform Implementation and the Headquarters to Promote Civil Service Reform, and to intensively implement administrative reform until the end of FY2014.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to accelerate administrative reform within the government as well."
