Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the 26th meeting of the Government Revitalization Unit at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the follow-up of the proposal-based policy review, the review of administrative programs, and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "Administrative reform is a vital issue that must be promoted holistically, indeed in an integrated manner with the comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems.
Thus, the Government Revitalization Unit has stood at the forefront of administrative reform and government revitalization within the administrations led by the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), and I believe the Government Revitalization Unit's role is increasing even further.
With regard to today's agenda, I believe it is important that, in terms of the 'proposal-based policy review,' the ministries thoroughly reflect it in their policies, and in terms of the 'review of administrative programs,' the practice is firmly established.
I believe it is essential that government revitalization continues to be advanced from the point of view of the people."
