Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda received a courtesy call from the four winners of the 43rd National Truck Driver Contest at the Prime Minister's Office.
The Truck Driver Contest has been held annually since 1969 by the Japan Trucking Association, with the support of the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the National Police Agency, and others. With "zero traffic accidents" as the slogan, the contest aims to promote professional truck drivers' compliance with the law and to enhance their driving and maintenance skills as well as to foster a sense of pride and social responsibility as drivers.
The Prime Minister presented trophies to Mr. Yasuharu Ojima, the winner of the Prime Minister's Award, and three winners of their respective categories.
