On October 18, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda visited Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea (ROK).

On the following day, October 19, the Prime Minister first visited and offered a wreath at the Seoul National Cemetery where those who sacrificed their lives for the ROK are enshrined.

Afterwards, the Prime Minister held talks with Mr. Lee Myung-bak, President of the ROK, at Cheong Wa Dae, Office of the President and handed him five volumes of archives originating from the Korean Peninsula.
The volumes consigned during the Prime Minister's visit to the ROK are part of the 1,205 volumes of archives originating from the Korean Peninsula, which are to be transferred to the ROK in accordance with the Japan-ROK Archives Treaty that entered into force on June 10, 2011.

After the meeting, the two leaders held a joint press conference.
