Regarding the resignation en masse of the Abe Cabinet and the formulation of a new administration, the Prime Minister said,

“Since regaining power, my administration has exerted every effort, day by day, to promote economic revitalization and diplomacy that safeguards our national interests. In that time, I am proud to have been able to take on challenges on various issues together with the public.

We owe everything to the people. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to them. I also wish to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has lent me their support, even in difficult and challenging times.

Following this, the Suga Cabinet will be formed today, and I ask you to extend it your firm support and understanding.”

Responding to a question from a reporter, the Prime Minister said,

“Fortunately, my medication has been effective, and I am recovering steadily. I intend to support the Suga administration in my capacity as a Diet member. Thank you.”
