In the afternoon, during the 188th special session of the Diet, the voting to designate the Prime Minister took place at both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors. Shinzo Abe, a member of the House of Representatives, was reappointed as the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Abe became the 97th Prime Minister since Hirobumi Ito, the first Prime Minister of Japan.
