First Day of the Prime Minister’s Visit to Brazil

On August 1 (local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the Federative Republic of Brazil.
The Prime Minister first exchanged views with members of the Brazilian business community, before conversing with Japanese-Brazilian National Congress members and government officials. The Prime Minister then attended a gathering for “gratitude for football,” which was held to express gratitude to Brazilians who have helped develop football in Japan. Following that, Prime Minister Abe attended a welcome ceremony at the Presidential Palace. The Prime Minister then held talks with H.E. Ms. Dilma Vana Rousseff, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, before holding a ceremony to announce the signing of a memorandum and other documents and a joint press announcement. Afterwards Prime Minister Abe exchanged views with members of the Japan-Brazil Wise Men Group.
The Prime Minister then attended a luncheon hosted by President Rousseff, and conversed with representatives of a delegation of Japanese-Brazilians.
