On July 7 (local time), during his visit to Auckland, New Zealand, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe first attended a welcome ceremony at Government House. The Prime Minister then held talks with the Rt. Hon. John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand , and a joint press conference.
Following this, Prime Minister Abe received a courtesy call from a rugby team in Villa Maria. Afterwards, the Prime Minister attended a luncheon meeting hosted by Prime Minister Key and then received a courtesy call from the Hon. David Cunliffe , leader of the Labour Party .
The Prime Minister then moved to Christchurch, where he visited the former site of the Canterbury Television (CTV) building, as well as Christchurch Transitional Cathedral.
