The Prime Minister Visits Fukushima Prefecture

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Fukushima Prefecture to gauge the progress of the reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake.
First, the Prime Minister visited Fukushima Medical University in Hikarigaoka, Fukushima City, and received an explanation regarding the management of the impact of radiation on health. Later, the Prime Minister offered words of encouragement to the staff of the Radiation Medical Science Center for the Fukushima Health Management Survey.
Subsequently, the Prime Minister visited temporary housing in Iitate Village in Matsukawa Town, Fukushima City, where the Prime Minister visited residents and exchanged views with them.
Following this, the Prime Minister planted rice using a rice transplanter at a rice paddy also in Matsukawa Town, Fukushima City.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister visited Tsuchiyu-Onsen Hot Spring in Fukushima City and observed a site where ryokans (Japanese inns) were half destroyed due to the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Prime Minister then received an explanation regarding initiatives that make use of hot spring heat and other local resources.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister visited a cherry farm in Iizaka Town, Fukushima City. There, the Prime Minister toured the farm and sampled cherries.
Lastly, the Prime Minister visited a decontamination site and a temporary storage site for decontaminated waste in Koori Town and observed the premises, before offering words of encouragement to the employees and others.
