On June 19 (local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is visiting the Republic of Ireland, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Michael D. Higgins, President of the Republic of Ireland, and his wife, at the president's official residence. Following this, he met with Mr. Enda Kenny, Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland, at the Department of the Taoiseach, and a Japan-Ireland joint press conference was held.
Following a greeting from members of the Irish business community, the Prime Minister moved to London in the United Kingdom, where he gave a speech on economic policy in the City of London financial district.
