Headquarters for Japan's Economic Revitalization
Friday, June 14, 2013
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the seventh meeting of the Headquarters for Japan's Economic Revitalization at the Prime Minister's Office.
During the meeting, discussion took place on the growth strategy, and the Japan Revitalization Strategy was decided.
Following the day's decision, the Prime Minister said in his address,
"Thanks to the immense efforts that relevant ministers have been putting in to compile the growth strategy, this Headquarters was able to decide on the Japan Revitalization Strategy today. The Government will be approving this strategy at the Cabinet meeting after this meeting.
The subtitle is 'JAPAN is BACK.' At the G8 Summit next week, I will be fully highlighting this outcome.
This strategy will be implemented with speed that is of another dimension. As business confidence picks up, we will move quickly to spur private sector investment and set into motion a positive cycle of full-fledged growth.
To this end, with the cooperation of the ruling parties, the discussions on taxation system reform, including drastic reductions in taxes on investments, will be brought forward to autumn. Furthermore, positioning autumn's extraordinary Diet session as the 'Diet to Execute the Growth Strategy,' the relevant bills necessary for implementing the growth strategy will be submitted to the Diet.
The growth strategy of the Abe Cabinet is a 'continuously-evolving growth strategy.' The strategy compiled today is the start line to the next step. We will set forth a steady stream of concrete measures and responses which are sought by society, so that the people may feel the dynamic progress of the policies.
From now until autumn, various questions need to be examined - what will be the schedule for implementing the growth strategy, can the execution of measures be brought forward, and how should the remaining issues be dealt with? Ministers shall coordinate with Minister Amari and work together in moving forward the growth strategy. I would like to ask relevant ministers for their continued prompt and proactive responses."
