Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Ceremony of Reverence at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery, held in the presence of Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado.

On this occasion, among the remains of the war dead collected in Russia, Ioto Island, and other places by government-dispatched groups tasked with collecting the remains of the war dead, 1,628 remains which cannot be returned to their families were entombed at the Cemetery. This brings the total number of remains entombed at the Cemetery to 358,260, including the remains which have already been entombed.

The Prime Minister, along with Cabinet members, ambassadors to Japan, representatives from related organizations, bereaved family members, and others participated in the ceremony and paid their respects to the war dead.
