The Prime Minister Visits Oita Prefecture

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Oita Prefecture to have a first-hand look at the agricultural, university education, tourism, and other sectors.
Arriving in Kitsuki City, the Prime Minister visited a company that has newly entered the agricultural industry by making use of abandoned arable land. He sampled tea and experienced harvesting work by test riding a large-size harvesting vehicle.
The Prime Minister then moved to a hotel in Hiji Town, Hayami County and conversed with Mr. Katsusada Hirose, Governor of Oita Prefecture, and others.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister moved to Beppu City, where he first visited Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University and conversed with students.
The Prime Minister then visited the Kannawa hot spring area and tried out the foot steam bath. Afterwards, he attended a meeting for an exchange of views with tourism workers.
Later, the Prime Minister observed the operations of a demonstration unit of a power generation system which utilizes the steam from the hot spring, and other sources.
Lastly, the Prime Minister exchanged views with the mayors of municipalities and the chairpersons of municipal assemblies in Oita Prefecture at a hotel in Beppu City.
