Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from Mr. Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

"This year marks the ICRC's 150th anniversary. Through all these years, the ICRC has made numerous contributions across the world. I would like to express my respect for the ICRC's work, in particular, for its activities in regions such as Afghanistan and Syria.
These activities of the ICRC are in line with the aim of Japan's international contribution efforts, and we will continue to offer our cooperation for the ICRC's activities."
