Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from Chairperson of the National League for Democracy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

"I would like to express my respect for the way you have greatly advanced democratization in Myanmar through your leadership in the midst of a very difficult situation.
I visited Myanmar in January last year. At that time, I went to the completion ceremony for a school constructed by the Association for Building Schools for Children in Asia, for which I serve as Chairman.
The children of Myanmar have big dreams for the future of their country, and for that reason, they want to have an environment created in which they can study as much as possible. I met with such passionate children. I want Japan to continue support for efforts toward the future of Myanmar."
