Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from an ice hockey team from Portland, Maine at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

"I understand that you have been playing in charity games and that the proceeds will be donated to cope with the devastation from the Great East Japan Earthquake. I would like to express my gratitude to you on behalf of Japan.
I imagine you must have played some exciting games against both the Kokudo and Waseda University ice hockey teams.
Your support, and that of others like you, gives the people in Tohoku huge encouragement.
I hope that, based on your position, you can continue to contribute to further strengthening the bonds of friendship between Japan and the United States.
We will also make every effort to speed up reconstruction.
I would like to ask for your continued support for reconstruction."
