Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met with Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, at the Prime Minister's Office.

After the summit meeting, the leaders attended the signing ceremony for the joint statement on further strengthening the partnership between Japan and Sri Lanka, now past the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and held a joint press conference.
