The Prime Minister Visits Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures to gauge the progress of reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake.
First, the Prime Minister visited Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, and after offering prayers and flowers at a memorial facility for the earthquake, observed Takata District from the rooftop of a building.
Then, the Prime Minister moved to Takata-Nishi District and observed the construction work for the transfer of residential areas to plateaus in Takata-Nishi District.
The Prime Minister then headed to Ofunato City and observed public housing for disaster-stricken households, a sake-brewing factory and a confectionary factory.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister visited temporary housing in Rikuzentakata City and had talks with the residents.
Lastly, the Prime Minister headed to Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, observed an ice-making factory, and received an explanation on the progress of reconstruction from Mr. Shigeru Sugawara, Mayor of Kesennuma City.
