Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Okinawa Prefecture.
First, the Prime Minister observed Naha Air Base of the Self-Defense Forces, and gave words of encouragement to the Self-Defense Force members.
Then, the Prime Minister visited the Peace Memorial Park in Itoman City, and after offering prayers at the National Cemetery for the War Dead and Tower Enshrining the Spirits of the War Dead from Bouchou and offering flowers, visited the Cornerstone of Peace.
The Prime Minister then headed to a hotel in Naha City, and had talks and a meal with Mr. Hirokazu Nakaima, Governor of Okinawa Prefecture.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister observed the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University in Onna Village, and then observed Futenma Air Station from the observation deck at Kakazu Takadai Park in Ginowan City.
Lastly, the Prime Minister visited the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters. After observing the patrol vessel Motobu, the Prime Minister delivered an address to the staff.
