The Meeting of the Government and Ruling Parties Council on the FY2013 Budget
Sunday, January 27, 2013
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the meeting of the Government and Ruling Parties Council on the FY2013 Budget at the Prime Minister's Office.
Discussion took place on the FY2013 budget.
Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said in his address,
"The draft budget for FY2013 will implement seamless economic measures together with the draft supplementary budget, under the idea of a '15-month budget.' It also responds securely to various issues including the reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and disaster prevention measures to protect the people's lives.
At the same time, while the situation of tax revenue and government bonds had been reversed for four years, they were finally restored to the normal state, with tax revenue exceeding government bonds. The budget also gives consideration to fiscal discipline.
From now on, we must promptly pass and implement the supplementary budget and the FY2013 budget, in order to provide these measures to the people at the earliest possible date.
The stage finally moves to the Diet from tomorrow. The government and the ruling parties, including the members here, should work together to put in their efforts. I would like to ask for cooperation from the Liberal Democratic Party and New Komeito to back us up."
