Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the presentation ceremony of the Prime Minister's Award to the winner of the 45th Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize is awarded by the Japan Professional Sports Association each year to an individual or group that is deemed to have made an achievement that contributed the greatest to professional sports overall. The Grand Prize for the year 2012 was awarded to Mr. Shinnosuke Abe, a professional baseball player for the Yomiuri Giants, to whom the Prime Minister himself presented the award.

Upon receiving the award, Mr. Shinnosuke Abe presented the Prime Minister with a bat autographed by him as a commemorative gift.
