Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the New Year Party by the Japan Federation of Certified Public Tax Accountants' Associations held in Tokyo.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

"The mission imposed on the Liberal Democratic Party is to revive the economy, to restore a strong Japanese economy.
In doing so, we first need bold monetary policy, flexible public finance policy, and a growth strategy that encourages private sector investment, which we refer to as the 'three arrows.'
I believe that we must move on strongly with these 'three arrows.'
We must disseminate this message to the world as well. Yesterday, in the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy, we discussed how this phrase should be translated into English. Although it may be difficult to grasp the meaning by simply saying 'three arrows,' we are expressing the feeling of shooting three arrows simultaneously in our efforts to revive the economy, rather than referring to the old saying about three arrows that do not bend when bundled together.
We will now be starting to work on tax system revision. We would like to ask for your valuable cooperation in the smooth execution of the tax system, and for your assistance and guidance in ensuring the growth of small- and mid-sized enterprises in each region."
