- On September 6, commencing at 10:43 a.m. local time (0:43 p.m. JST) for about 10 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, attended the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF) as a guest speaker during his visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, and delivered a speech in front of the participants from government and business of ASEAN countries. The AIPF was organized by Indonesia, ASEAN Chair, as a side event of the ASEAN-related Summit Meetings.
- In his speech, Prime Minister KISHIDA newly announced the “Japan-ASEAN Comprehensive Connectivity Initiative” to further strengthen regional connectivity in both hard and soft (technical) cooperation. Prime Minister KISHIDA announced that Japan will promote cooperation in a wide range of areas including digital connectivity, maritime cooperation, supply chain resilience, electricity connectivity and human and knowledge connectivity in addition to transport infrastructure development, and will provide capacity building projects for 5,000 individuals over the next three years.
