Regarding the Ebola virus disease outbreak in West Africa, upon the requests from Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Mali, the Government of Japan has decided to newly provide around 700,000 sets of personal protective equipment to the countries concerned. Upon the request of the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER), and from the perspective of ensuring rapid delivery, the Government will deliver 20,000 of those sets by Japan Self-Defense Force aircraft to Accra, Ghana, where the UNMEER headquarters is located. The support provided on this occasion is part of the Japanese support measures announced by Prime Minister Abe at the UN General Assembly and other fora.
