The Environment Dispute Coordination Commission was established in 1972 as an external bureau of the Prime Minister's Office in a merger of the Land Coordination Committee and the Central Pollution Examination Commission. The Commission became an external bureau of the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications in January 2001, following the reorganization of the central government ministries and agencies.
